The Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Odessa was established in 1994 under the authorization of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine (registration No 27 as of April 8, 1994).

The Odessa municipality has allocated three buildings for the Foundation, which are located at 16-20 Krasny, Pereulok. One of these buildings was the residence of Grigory Marazli, and a place where members of a secret society known as Philiki Etaireia (Friendly Company), gathered and planned their activities.

The Odessa Branch engages in the following activities:

• ORGANISES exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances, screenings, lectures, and seminars, scientific conferences in co-operation with cultural and educational institutions.
• PARTICIPATES in cultural events, anniversary celebrations, theatrical festivals, as well as cinema, and music weeks.
• PROMOTES the Greek language by offering courses, providing material and relevant information to other agencies and organising seminars.
• DISSEMINATES Greek books by presenting literary figures, providing support for translations, participating in international book fairs, etc.
• SPOTLIGHTS Greek cinema through regular screenings, film festivals and tributes in co-operation with the Greek Film Centre.
• PUBLISHES books and catalogues, in association with its activities and events.
• UNDERTAKES educational initiatives at schools and Universities in Ukraine, in co-operation with local authorities.
